Finishing Your Artwork

"Mounting" your artwork is just a fancy way of saying that you will be attaching your artwork for presentation within a mat window or against a mat blank or backing board. There are three basic methods for mounting artwork. You can attach it by coating it with adhesive. You can suspend it using tabs of tape. Or you can trap it along its edges or at its corners. Within each method a variety of techniques exist. Which technique you use depends on the type of presentation you want to make and the value of the artwork. If the artwork has a great deal of potential value, you will want to limit your mounting materials and techniques to those that are of archival quality.
